Addressing biosecurity considerations for agritourism operators

With the recent concerns regarding the threat of foot-and-mouth disease to Australia, we spoke with Tasmanian Country Hour (ABC 936) to address biosecurity considerations for agritourism operators in Tasmania.

Jumping on air, Belinda Hazell (Optimum Standard) spoke about the risks posed by visitors on farm and discussed mitigation techniques that farmers, producers and visitors can put into practice to minimise their exposure to the disease.

Aware that the complex nature of this issue raises many questions, Belinda highlighted the resources readily available to operators, including the Biosecurity Fact Sheet we developed for participants of the Opening the Gate Program. Providing farmers, producers, and agritourism operators with tips and resources to help manage the risks of visitors on farm, you can download it for free.
